About Aluminium Profiles & CNC Parts
T-slot aluminium extrusion is modular framing for machine frames, workbenches, guards and enclosures, and it is also the structure of many DIY CNC routers and 3D printers. This range covers aluminium profiles and fixings such as T-nuts and corner brackets, linear guides and bearings, lead screws and ball screws, couplings, stepper motors, belts and pulleys, and CNC control boards.
Because the parts fit together by standard sizes, check each size and thread before you order.
How to choose
- Profile series: the slot width (for example 6 mm or 8 mm) and the profile size (such as 2020, 3030 or 4040) must match the T-nuts, brackets and end caps.
- Linear motion: rails or round shafts with matching bearings. Check the rail width, the carriage size, the load and the unsupported span.
- Lead screw or ball screw: ball screws are more accurate and efficient but cost more, while lead screws are fine for light machines. Match the screw diameter, pitch and end machining to the nut and the bearing blocks.
- Stepper motors: the NEMA frame size (17, 23 or 34), the holding torque and the current per phase, matched to the driver.
- Couplings and drivers: the shaft diameter on each side of a coupling (for example 5 mm to 8 mm), and the driver’s current and microstepping settings.

What do NEMA 17 and NEMA 23 mean?
They describe the mounting face of a stepper motor. NEMA 17 motors are about 42 mm square and NEMA 23 motors about 57 mm square. Motors of the same frame size differ in torque, so check the holding torque.
Lead screw or ball screw for a CNC router?
Choose a ball screw for accuracy, speed and heavy cutting. A lead screw is cheaper and fine for light machines such as small routers and 3D printers.
Can aluminium extrusion be cut to length?
Yes, with a saw blade made for non-ferrous metal. Cut square, remove the burrs, and use end caps or end-face fixings to join the pieces.
