About Power Tools
This range includes electric and air-powered tools for workshops, maintenance teams and contractors: drills and hammer drills, angle and bench grinders, saws, sanders, routers, heat guns, glue guns, spray guns, air tools and pressure washers, with batteries for cordless models.
Match the tool to the duty. A tool used all day on site needs a stronger motor and better cooling than one used once a month.
How to choose
- Power and duty: watts for corded tools, or volts and amp-hours for cordless ones, show the capacity. Industrial-duty tools have larger motors, better bearings and replaceable carbon brushes.
- Corded or cordless: corded tools give constant power for heavy jobs, and lithium-ion cordless tools are convenient on site. Check that the batteries and charger are included.
- Size: the disc diameter of a grinder (100, 115, 125 or 180 mm), the chuck capacity of a drill (10 or 13 mm), and the impact energy of a rotary hammer, with an SDS holder for concrete.
- Safety: fitted guards, a side handle, double insulation or a proper earth connection. Wear eye and ear protection.
- Accessories and spares: the availability of discs, bits, brushes and batteries for the brand you choose.

What does SDS mean on a drill?
SDS is a bit-holding system for rotary hammers. The bit slides in the chuck, so the hammer action passes to it efficiently. It is the standard for drilling concrete and masonry.
Which grinder disc size should I buy?
The disc must fit the grinder’s guard and not exceed its maximum disc diameter. 115 mm and 125 mm are the most common sizes for fabrication, and 180 mm is used for heavy work.
Can I run a power tool from a generator?
Yes, if the generator can supply the tool’s starting current, which is several times its running current for motor tools. Size the generator with margin and use a stable supply.
